The Piston Ring for Diesel Engine

The Piston Ring for Diesel Engine

piston rings, are flexible metal rings fitted into special grooves around the piston inside the cylinder. These rings seal the combustion chamber and prevent gases and oil from leaking between the piston and the engine cylinder.
Reasons for Rings and Their Functions
1. Preventing Combustion Pressure Leakage: Rings maintain combustion pressure inside the cylinder, ensuring engine efficiency and increasing engine power.
2. Preventing Oil Leakage: Rings prevent lubricating oil from leaking into the combustion chamber, keeping oil consumption low.
3. Heat Transfer: Rings help transfer the heat generated in the piston to the cylinder walls to cool the piston.
4. Reducing Friction: Rings reduce direct friction between the piston and the cylinder walls, prolonging the life of the engine's internal parts.
